September included a lot of fun filled activities for Alex and Gina including trips to the park and a visit to the Aerospace Museum and the zoo. This was Gina's first trip to the zoo and she had a great time looking at the giraffes and elephants. Alex enjoyed watching a brown bear poop right in front of him.
Alex has made some very significant progress with his eating issues. He's still got a long way to go, but he's starting to try new foods more frequently and with more ease, and is finally starting to eat more than one bite of something new. He's very proud of himself when he is able to try something new and Gina helps motivate him by cheering for him as he eats new things.
Alex has become very independent and is now taking showers by himself (with a little help from Mom or Dad) and gets his own breakfast in the mornings. This lets Debbie and Greg get a few more minutes of sleep, which is great since Alex is up before the sun on most days! He's going to church more often now and most of the time sits in the "big boy" church instead of the baby room. He's making lots of friends in his new class at school and is really learning a lot this year.
Alex has been having lots of fun watching baseball, college football and the NFL. He's still trying to learn the difference between the games and sometimes shouts "touchdown" during a baseball game. He enjoys watching the end of "College Gameday" each Saturday and thinks it's cool to see Lee Corso put on the headgear.
Gina is walking really well now and falling much less. She can now say almost 20 words and about half of them are pronounced well. She finally started saying Mama last month, although she still calls Alex and Mommy "Dada" sometimes. She is cutting 7 new teeth right now, so she had a rough couple of days and not surprising came down with a cold. She continues to do well with new foods and is getting pretty good at using a fork and spoon. She's also getting pretty good at using crayons, but she's still learning that she's not supposed to color the walls and the furniture. Gina has followed in her brother's footsteps and has become a huge fan of Sesame Street, especially Grover. She calls him "Goo Goo" and asks to watch "Goo Goo" everyday.
We're now looking forward to a busy October with a family trip planned to Denver, a visit from Debbie's mom, Alex's 4th birthday and of course Halloween.
