On the Friday before Mother’s Day, Gina’s school hosted a Mother’s Day Tea. All the mommies and kids got dressed up and we ate yummy treats. The kids made place mats for the moms and presented us all with some great handmade gifts. They also sang some cute songs, although Gina got scared by all of the people in the room and cried instead! Despite her not wanting to sing, we had a great time together.

Alex Enjoys Watching the Padres Beat the Phillies

We recently attended a Padres / Phillies game in San Diego. Alex typically doesn’t pay much attention to the game and usually digs in the sand on “the beach” with the other kids most of the time. This time, he did play in the sand for a while but ended up hanging out with some older kids by the fence on the beach and actually watched the game. He always cheered with the Padres scored and at the end of the game after the Padres had won, he came up to our seats to rub it in Greg’s face a little bit. Ironically this is the same kid who was crying in the car on the way to the game because he forgot his Phillies hat! To view photos from the game, click here.

We returned from Florida the day before Easter and although the kids should’ve been tired, they were really excited to celebrate Easter. We went to church and out to breakfast before heading home to look for eggs. Below is a silly photo taken while Debbie was trying to stall for time with the kids in the backyard while the Easter Bunny hid eggs in the front yard. More photos and a video can be seen here.

Over spring break we visited Florida for the first time in six years. The kids had a blast visiting Jacksonville and Tampa, which included private tours of both the Jags & Bucs’ stadiums plus Alex got to record a radio promo for Fisher’s radio show. We also paid a visit to Winter the dolphin, the beach and Lowry Park Zoo. We also celebrated Debbie’s grandmother’s 98th birthday and her dad’s 68th birthday, a little early. One of the highlights for Alex was getting to jam with his Uncle Mike, something he looked forward to for months. A video of their jam session is below. This year instead of a talent show, Alex’s school hosted a St. Patrick’s Day dance.  Although Alex was bummed he wasn’t going to perform on stage this year, he was really excited about the dance and he and Gina had a blast.  Below is a photo of them decked out in green just before we headed to the dance.  More photos from the dance and some other fun St. Patrick’s Day activities can be seen here.

Gina went really crazy for Valentine’s Day this year. She passed valentines out at her school and at Alex’s school and gave away so many, she had to make 3 different batches. On Valentine’s Day, she planned a surprise “party” for Greg which included making custom place mats for each family member.

First Visit to Disneyland

The kids received gift cards to Disneyland for Christmas and yesterday we surprised the kids by taking them there. Both kids were so surprised when we woke them, and they have never jumped out of bed faster. It was a teacher planning day for Alex, and Alex thought the most exciting part of the day would be getting to watch a little extra T.V. but he said going to Disneyland was “way better.” Gina couldn’t wait to get to the castle and do lots of “girly stuff.” The kids had so much fun and often said “this place is awesome” or “this is the best day ever!” Gina was tall enough to ride all of the big kid stuff we had planned and both kids really loved Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Star Tours and the Haunted Mansion. Alex had a great time at the Jedi Training Academy and the highlight of Gina’s day was meeting the princesses at the Princess Fantasy Faire. Additional photos from our first ever visit to Disneyland are available here.
